How to Use the Hours Calculator

Select Hours Between to calculate time difference, or Work Hours to deduct breaks.
Enter start and end times using the time picker.
For work hours, enter your break duration in minutes.
Click Calculate to see hours, minutes, and decimal hours.

Time Difference: Convert both times to minutes since midnight, subtract, and convert back to hours and minutes.

Work Hours: Work Hours = Total Hours - Break Duration (in minutes / 60)

Decimal Hours: Decimal = Hours + (Minutes / 60)

Overnight shifts are handled automatically by adding 24 hours when end time is earlier than start time.

How do I calculate hours between two times?

Enter the start and end times. The calculator handles overnight shifts automatically by adding 24 hours when needed.

Can I deduct lunch breaks?

Yes, use the Work Hours tab and enter your break duration in minutes. The calculator subtracts it from total hours.

What is decimal hours?

Decimal hours convert minutes to a fraction of an hour. For example, 8 hours 30 minutes = 8.5 decimal hours.

Does this work for overnight shifts?

Yes, if the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator assumes the shift crosses midnight.

Can I calculate multiple breaks?

Add all break minutes together and enter the total in the break field.
